Shandong Shenchi Chemical Group began investing in and constructing the Green and High-Efficiency Carbon Capture Technology Upgrade Project for Methane Hydrogen Production Tail Gas in April 2022. After extensive evaluation by the Group, it was ultimately decided that the 20kt/a liquefaction and purification unit would adopt the process package technology, patents, and proprietary equipment supplied by Hangzhou Kuai Kai High-Efficiency Energy-Saving New Technology Co., Ltd. The process employs a combined two-stage waste heat recovery and two-stage distillation process to produce liquid CO₂, with product quality meeting design specifications.

      On the morning of February 17, 2023, feed gas was officially introduced to commence commissioning and debugging. Thanks to the joint efforts of Shenchi, Hangzhou Kuai Kai, and relevant personnel, the commissioning proceeded smoothly. Following a 72-hour trial run at half and full load from February 23 to 26, on-site operators have mastered the operational essentials in accordance with training requirements and are capable of handling various common situations. The unit is operating stably; with a high degree of automation, product quality consistently meets standards.

      As a project for recovering tail gas from methanol-to-hydrogen production in the new energy sector, this initiative not only delivers economic benefits but also aligns with the national “dual carbon” policy objectives. It truly achieves “green and efficient” operations and holds practical significance in terms of social, economic, and research value.
