Wanhua Chemical (Penglai) Co., Ltd. was established in January 2022 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wanhua Chemical. The company will invest 23.1 billion yuan in the Wanhua Chemical Penglai Industrial Park to construct an integrated high-performance new materials project and supporting facilities, primarily comprising a 900kt/a PDH plant, a 500kt/a polyether plant, 400kt/a of POCHP, 300kt/a of polypropylene, 300kt/a of EO, 300kt/a of EOD, 160kt/a of acrylic acid, 160kt/a of butyl acrylate, 20kt/a of octyl acrylate, 200kt/a of carbonates, and 30kt/a of emollients.

The carbon dioxide project undertaken by our company involves the recovery and utilization of carbon dioxide gas emitted from the low-temperature methanol scrubbing process of the client’s coal-to-hydrogen plant to produce food-grade liquid carbon dioxide. This primarily supplies high-quality liquid carbon dioxide feedstock for carbonate production within the integrated new materials project, aligning with the national “dual carbon” policy and truly achieving the goal of carbon-neutral utilization of carbon dioxide.

Our company was awarded this project in September 2022. We are implementing our proprietary new process, which combines compression, precision desulfurization, adsorption dehydration, and two-stage liquefaction. The design is specifically tailored to the production of high-purity liquid carbon dioxide. The entire project was implemented through a supply and cooperation model utilizing our process package and patented proprietary equipment, with product quality meeting the requirements of the “GB 1886.228-2016 National Food Safety Standard for Food Additive Carbon Dioxide.”

The project was fully commissioned and put into operation on April 18, 2025. Following a 72-hour performance evaluation and acceptance test, all indicators met or exceeded the standards specified in the technical agreement.
