Yulin Baijiarui Fine Chemicals Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jiangsu Sanmu Group. The company is located in the Yusheng Industrial Zone of Yulin City, Shaanxi Province. The project being developed in the Yulin Economic and Technological Development Zone has a total investment of 20 billion yuan and covers an area of 2,500 mu. It focuses on building an industrial chain centered on a 1.2 million-ton formaldehyde plant, an 800,000-ton acetic acid plant, and a 1 million-ton acetic ester (methyl, ethyl, and butyl esters), a 240,000-ton polyol production facility, a 100,000-ton DMC facility, a 800,000-ton butanol and octanol co-production facility using propylene as feedstock (with by-products n-butyraldehyde and isobutyraldehyde serving as feedstock for the polyol facility), a 60,000-ton melamine facility using urea as feedstock, and a 100,000-ton amino resin project.
At the end of 2023, Yulin Baijiarui Fine Chemicals Co., Ltd. began investing in the construction of a 96kt/a food-grade carbon dioxide recovery, purification, and liquefaction project to supply downstream electronic-grade DMC. Our company is providing the project with a patented process package, detailed engineering design, a complete set of core equipment, and proprietary hydrocarbon removal catalysts.
This project utilizes high-concentration CO₂ tail gas emitted from upstream coal chemical industry low-temperature methanol washing units as feedstock. This feed gas has a high CO₂ content but also contains methanol, trace sulfides, ethane, and organic hydrocarbons of C2 and higher. Neither liquefaction distillation, adsorption, nor multi-stage distillation alone can effectively remove these substances. Currently, the most effective method for removing hydrocarbons C2 and above, both domestically and internationally, is catalytic oxidation dehydrocarbonization purification. Therefore, this project employs our company’s proprietary combined process—comprising advanced desulfurization, catalytic dehydrocarbonization, drying, and liquefaction distillation—to produce high-quality food-grade liquid CO2. This process features low investment costs, low energy consumption, excellent product quality, a high degree of automation, and stable operation.
On the morning of November 1, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., through the joint efforts of technical personnel from Yulin Baijiarui Fine Chemical Co., Ltd. and our company, the unit was successfully commissioned on the first attempt following a 48-hour commissioning period and has been operating smoothly. Based on the commissioning results, the process is advanced, the equipment selection is appropriate, the level of automation is high, the footprint is small, and the product quality exceeds both the design specifications and the requirements of GB 1886.228-2016 “National Food Safety Standard: Food Additives—Carbon Dioxide.” The successful construction of this unit has made a significant contribution to China’s energy conservation, emissions reduction, and “dual carbon” initiatives.
