On April 25, 2010, at Ningbo Wanlong Edible Alcohol Co., Ltd., a newly upgraded 2kt/a food-grade CO₂ production unit meeting international quality standards began producing qualified CO₂ with a purity of 99.99%. All other indicators comply with the new national standard GB10621-2006, as well as the specifications set by Coca-Cola and PepsiCo. This marks the successful commissioning of yet another complete food-grade liquid CO₂ production unit in the alcohol industry, designed, retrofitted, and commissioned by Hangzhou Kuai Kai High-Efficiency Energy-Saving New Technology Co., Ltd.   Ningbo Wanlong Edible Alcohol Co., Ltd. is a large-scale, specialized alcohol producer. Covering an area of 24,000 square meters with a building area of over 7,000 square meters, the company possesses modern production facilities and advanced manufacturing processes. It has an annual production capacity of 35,000 tons of food-grade alcohol, 8,000 tons of anhydrous alcohol, and 30,000 tons of alcohol-based feed, with an annual output value of 140 million yuan. Its production scale ranks among the top 20 in the industry nationwide. To reduce CO₂ emissions and make rational use of the CO₂-rich fermentation gas generated during alcohol production, the company constructed a 10kt/a liquid CO₂ plant as early as 2003. However, due to design and technical limitations, the original plant’s liquid CO₂ output and quality failed to meet market demands, negatively impacting the company’s profitability. With economic development, market demands for CO₂ product quality have become increasingly stringent, and market competition has intensified. To enhance the company’s market competitiveness and risk resilience, the company decided to construct a new food-grade CO₂ production facility compliant with international quality standards, converting CO₂-rich ethanol fermentation gas into food-grade liquid CO₂ products that meet these standards. To ensure thoroughness, the company conducted a rigorous comparison of the reliability of various domestic liquid CO₂ production technologies. Ultimately, it decided to adopt the international-standard food-grade liquid CO₂ production process technology developed by Hangzhou Kuai Kai. Hangzhou Kuai Kai was tasked with determining the design plan based on the composition of the company’s CO₂ feed gas, as well as carrying out the engineering design and commissioning. Following production commissioning on April 26 and 27, the unit is operating normally. All production process quality indicators exceed design requirements.
