On December 30, 2013, our company was awarded a contract to construct a 100kt/a food-grade carbon dioxide recovery plant, a joint venture between Germany’s Messer Group and China’s Sichuan Meifeng Chemical Co., Ltd. The relevant contract has been signed. The plant is scheduled to begin operations in early September 2014.
The Messer Group is a world-renowned industrial gas company, while Sichuan Meifeng Chemical Co., Ltd. is a publicly listed chemical company controlled by Sinopec Group. Through this strategic partnership, the two entities have established Sichuan Meifeng Messer Gas Products Co., Ltd. to utilize our company’s food-grade carbon dioxide production technology and equipment to recover industrial waste carbon dioxide generated during Meifeng’s chemical production processes, thereby constructing a facility with an annual production capacity of 100,000 metric tons of food-grade carbon dioxide.
Located in the Mianyang Economic Development Zone, Sichuan Province, this facility marks the first CO₂ plant built by the Messer Group in China. By introducing world-leading CO₂ application technologies to the Chinese market, the company will supply food-grade liquid CO₂, dry ice, and downstream products to customers in the food, beverage, manufacturing, and environmental protection sectors, while also contributing to the restructuring of China’s chemical industry and market development. The completion of this facility further enhances Meifeng’s low-pollution, high-efficiency circular economy industrial chain. It not only achieves emission reductions and turns waste into valuable resources but also utilizes resources, expands markets, and creates new economic growth points.
